Don't wear headphones while biking - you need to hear what's going on around you

 

Always ride with a good fitting helmet

Be careful when passing parked cars - Don't ride too closely to parked cars - doors can open suddenly

Don't ride in a vehicles blind spot
Be sure that a motorist knows you are there, don't assume they see you

 

Always try to use bike lanes or designated bike routes whenever you can. The sidewalk can be unsafe.

 

Don’t ride against traffic, always ride on the right

 

Ride single file when riding with friends

Announce your self when your passing another bicycle or pedestrian.  “Passing on your left”

 

Be careful avoiding road

Let cars know what you are doing, use hand signals
If you ride when it's dark, be sure to have reflectors on your bike and a battery-operated headlight.
